What Is Stucco?

Simply said, stucco is an exterior cement cladding. Exterior stucco is popular thanks to its reliability and flexibility—stucco finishes offer different stucco appearance options for stucco walls (e.g., by using various stucco textures and colors).

Exterior vs. Interior stucco

The most basic stucco segmentation is the interior and exterior stucco. At ProStone, we focus on installing exterior stucco in the New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania areas.

Types of Stucco We Provide

Hard Coat Stucco

Also known as 3-coat stucco, the hard coat stucco consists of cement, sand, fiberglass, acrylic additives, and water. It can be installed on both masonry and wood-framed buildings. You might like that the hard coat stucco is highly water resistant.

Synthetic Stucco

Thanks to its acrylic resins with the sand in, synthetic stucco resembles the traditional one. Synthetic stucco is a good insulator, too, and can help with energy cost savings. We use it also because it better fits the flexible budgets of our customers.

EIFS Stucco

EIFS stands for External Insulation and Finishing Systems stucco. It comprises three layers—a polystyrene foam board, fiberglass mesh, and a finishing coat. It is becoming more and more popular, mainly due to 1) its increased insulation and 2) its flexibility resulting in less cracking and crumbling.

What Stucco Finishes We Do?

fine stucco finish

Fine Finish

You might have heard about it as a smooth stucco finish or also known as a spray finish. The thickness is about 1.0 and is usually used for decorative details—coins, trims, or columns.

Medium Finish

The thickness is about 1.5, and it is popular to be used for texturing for walls.

Perfect Swirl

The thickness is about 2.0 since it does have bigger pre-blended stones. This type of finish does hide imperfections even the surface flat because of thicker pre-blended stones.

Rough Coat Stucco Finish

Rough Coat Finish

This type of stucco finish consists of coarse aggregate (usually rocks or pebbles). One of its top advantages is that it can go without maintenance for even decades.
